Overcome the Winter Blues (SAD) Without Drugs
November 24th, 2008
Grey skies, long dark nights and cold weather are a prescription for the winter blues. Those suffering from depression and SAD (Seasonally Affected Disorder) will know this only too well.
However, there is hope to dispel the darkness with light; but the light from within ourselves.
FISU teaches a unique form of meditation that connects us with the light within us! If we can make contact with that which is within us – our higher self, or super consciousness we will find our inner light. Through meditation we are able to draw on this and infuse it in the mind, thereby uplifting us without the need for exterior stimuli or antidepressants.
Meditation practiced twice daily for 20-30 minutes is the ideal prescription to overcome the winter blues for good – and not just for this winter – but all winters of discontent!
Meditation is a drug free method of dealing with depression as it increases our self confidence and self esteem and allows us to look at ourselves from a new perspective.
We lack the ability to rise above our own personal circumstances long enough to be objective. Through meditation we automatically become more the observer of our thoughts and emotions and this has a great calming effect on the mind and nervous system. Furthermore, combine this with inner strength that is only found within the depths of the mind and we have a new way of dealing with life’s adversities and challenges.
Through practicing regularly we become more positive in a wonderful relaxed manner and allow that light which is within to radiate through us. So no more winter blues!
FISU Meditation is taught through over 27 UK Centres and is London’s largest non-sectarian meditation school. The course is based over 10 sessions taking 3 months to complete and costs £50.
