“How to Meditate” No. 4 in Google Trends Results in 2014
It’s wonderful news to see that the term “How to Meditate” was ranked 4th in the Google Trends UK results for 2014, and it’s the first time the word “meditate” has ever entered these charts.
As a prominent, international meditation school we have definitely seen an increase in visitors, enquiries and new students.
This is a confirmation how popular meditation is becoming and also indicates that by using this term, many people are curious to the benefits of meditation and are beginning their journey into discovering meditation methods and techniques.
Benefits of Meditation
When I started to teach meditation some 35 years ago, I was often greeted by surprise when I opened the door to new people who looked amazed that I was not wearing robes, had a long beard and was wearing sandals.
Nowadays, there are thousands of scientifically investigated and evidence based papers and articles that confirm that meditation has both physical and psychological benefits. Of course, we have been saying that for the last 35 years but at least what I, my Guru – Gururaj Ananda Yogi before me, and many other Yogis have spoken about have been proven as true.
Much of what we all lectured about was recorded prior to this currently and publicly available evidence, and our only concern then and now is that people experience, first hand, the life transforming benefits that I and the thousands of people that I have initiated have experienced.
It’s hard to put these experiences into words as these profound experiences transcend thought, but when you’ve had one, there is a sense of knowingness – and if you keep practising, they just keep coming..
Google Trends is a public web facility of the search giant, and based on Google Search that demonstrates how often a particular search-term is entered relative to the total search-volume across various areas of the world, and in different languages. You can see historic trends and what’s trending right now.
At the end of each year Google publishes details of various trends that make very interesting reading. See How to Meditate Results from Google.
